GERMAN FOR ARTISTS is a hybrid pocket grammar book and an artist’s humorous reflections on the more philosophical aspects of the German language. Written by the Danish artist Stine Marie Jacobsen, the book offers a critical and very humorous linguistic introduction to the vibrant and international cultural scene in Berlin. The book looks at contemporary art through the optics of language teaching, educates the reader about art and German grammar at one and the same time.
GERMAN FOR ARTISTS offers an insight into the basic German grammar by using well-known people on the international art scene to visualise the rules. The book is designed for artists, curators and other art enthusiasts who dream of learning German. It is an easily portable book offering grammatical first aid and ready-to-use phrases, that will help your understanding of the language in the German art world. A must for all “nicht-so-gut-deutsch” – speaking cultural workers in Germany’s capital! The book offers advice to help art people in different typical social and practical situations in the Berlin art world.

Oktober 2015.

Visvaldas Morkevičius – Public Secrets @ Motto Berlin. 08.09.2015
from 7pm
Visvaldas Morkevičius’ photo book project Public Secrets can be seen as a visual anthropological essay, inquiring on the possibility of voyeurism on self-proclaimed objects of gaze. The book compiles individuals and their bodies that incidentally demand to be looked at, and documents environments and settings that provide the scenography for these staged disclosures.
City patterns, nightlife shots and semi-private spaces are taken into the coming back and forth query, varying in physical and intimate distances. This conceptual camera movement results in pictures of queer places and behaviours, somehow too familiar for a viewer to be identified as ‘secrets’. Precisely the forwardness is uncanny in this book, the voluntary elimination of private, secret and counter, or intelligibly devised disguises that no longer hide, but expose.
Visvaldas Morkevičius (b. 1990, lives and works in Vilnius) is a Lithuanian photographer and media artist whose work situates itself in between fashion, documentary and artistic fields. His minimalistic visual regard holds interest in subcultural scenes, bodily identities and urban lifestyles.

The official catalogue of Shinro Ohtake’s exhibition held at Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art, Kagawa, 2013.
–
As the title suggests, “NEWNEW” consisted of only new, recent and never-exhibited works by the artist, deliberately placed throughout the museum to make the most of its unique locational environment and architectural structure.
The exhibited works included installations such as “MON CHERI: A Self-Portrait as a Scrapped Shed,” his contribution to Documenta 13, in addition to large-scale sculptures, collages, oil paintings, oversize drawings and small Gouache paintings on paper.
–
The catalogue consists of separate sheets, leaflets and a DVD, tied together with a paper faster that is also detachable. Sorted according to their techniques or where they were exhibited, the works are reproduced either in the books or on the sheets. The DVD contains a video documentation of the exhibition from a visitor’s perspective, beginning from a front view of the museum to the deep end of its exhibition rooms.
–
Larger than A3 in size, each of the eight sheets documents a different large-scale installation by the artist. With the front side covered by a full-bleed photo showing a whole picture of the work, they could be hung on a wall as a poster, while the back side shows details of the work and informs of other related works along with their captions. The three leaflets are formatted in different sizes; two feature image-based works (oil paintings / collages and drawings) and the other contains texts and reference data.
