But what exactly is the tactile, in a world in which a rising technocracy exploits the designed environment we feel? Who authorizes and who writes, what tradition do we stand in and how can we touch base? This reader explores how our interaction with printed matter affects us through theory, thoughts, and practices in the field of graphic design, materiality, philosophy, science and art.
Although the core of this book rests upon theory and thoughts, with eight writings from scientists and philosophers to a paper-specialist and art writers, this book also compiles practice-based experiments by six international artists and includes animated introductions of printing techniques in the form of fictionalized characters.

Fondazione d’Arte Erich Lindenberg is pleased to present Marion Tampon-Lajarriette, a French artist who explores the borders of memory and imagination, often referring to and using materials coming from the history of cinema, science and art. At Museo Villa Pia, Marion Tampon-Lajarriette has shown a selection of works from the past ten years, dating back to her arrival in Switzerland, in Geneva. Through video works created from 2D images, installations and furtive shots taken from performances, Marion transforms her love for cultural heritage, both old and contemporary, into a vision that verges on the fantastic, creating suspended atmospheres, between real and imaginary dimensions.

Several processes of communication are continuously happening in the cells and organs of the body. Human language can be seen as a further development of these. Genetic material or DNA is a prerequisite for this internal communication. The four bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) constitute what you might call the codes or the letters in the language of the genes. The sequence and composition of the letters are decisive for the synthesis of proteins and signal substances. The poems in Body Searches are inspired by the grammar of the genes and the structure of the DNA-molecule and they endeavor to try and unravel, in a new way, the old question: what is a human?
