The title refers directly at issues that lie at the very heart of Wieser’s work: what is the status of sculptures that were designed as objects? The artist’s body of work is built around this question and explores the boundaries between autonomous and applied art. Les Siestes Electroniques élargissent leur champ d’intervention en éditant une revue baptisée Audimat. Une vraie revue, pas un magazine ni un programme du festival : des articles long format sur la musique, écrits par des contributeurs français ou étrangers, pas forcément issus de la presse spécialisée. L’idée est d’ébaucher en langue française un discours critique exigeant, sans être abscons, sur la pop music, son histoire, son écoute, sa diffusion dans le monde.

Together with the landscape-architect Stefan Vidts, Stijn Cole went on a journey from the flat isle of Texel (NL) to the ancient woods of Bialowieza (Pl). Two extremes in the European landscape. The book “2 steps aside” tells the story of that trip and shows 6 pencil-drawings. As the base for these drawings, Cole took a picture at Branitz, a landscape-park in the geographical and conceptual middle of the traject, moved two steps aside and took a second picture of the same subject. The book has a “Concertina” format so the original movement of 180cm is kept.
