Die in New York lebende Künstlerin Heidrun Holzfeind stellt drei ihrer Arbeiten vor, die unlängst bei Kodoji Press in Baden erschienen sind.
“Mexico 68” besteht aus einer achtzehnteiligen Interviewserie mit ehemaligen Studierenden der Universität Mexiko, die 1968 ein Programm für bürgerliche Freiheiten und gegen die herrschende Repression formulierten. Ihre Anliegen wurden durch die Armee unterdrückt, was schliesslich in einem Massaker endete. “CU” wirft in 53 ganzseitigen Fotografien die Frage auf, inwiefern die Architekturmoderne die Vorstellungen von Freiheit und Gemeinschaft, die sie anfänglich zu ihrem Paradigma erhob, hat oder hätte einlösen können.
Ähnlich verhält es sich mit “Behind the Iron Gate / Za Zelazna Brama”, einer Dokumentation des Lebens in einer Warschauer Planstadt, die in den Jahren 1965-1972 auf den Trümmern des Jüdischen Ghettos errichtet wurde.
Heidrun Holfeinds Arbeit zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass sie augenscheinlich mit den Mitteln der Dokumentation
arbeitet, damit aber eine Form der künstlerischen Forschung betreibt. Dieser Ansatz erlaubt es Erkenntnisfragen, wie
sie üblicherweise in der Geschichtswissenschaft zum Zuge kommen, um eine ästhetische Form zu erweitern, die subjektive und individuelle Momente einzufangen.

100 Chairs in 100 Days and its 100 Ways by Martino Gamper
Martino Gamper made a chair a day in a bid to make 100 chairs in 100 days. Using a stock pile of discarded and donated chairs, Gamper created his new chairs from elements of existing ones. By deconstructing the chair he gains a new insight into its construction and use of materials which informs the creation of the new design. The process is immediate and spontaneous, like sketching in three dimensions

In his newest book the Melanesian theorist and theologian SUPER A presents an insightful chronicle into the future of cargo cult. Extracted from the practices of his home island, New Hanover, SUPER A (formerly known as the alter ego of stunt legend Evil Knievel. ) elaborates on the basics of the cult and shows the difficult implications of simulation and over-identification today. While under the influence of US Army in the mid 40’s and 50’s the islanders of Melanesia developed an ostentatious practice mimicking the US culture, worshipping the wealth (cargo!) of the foreigners in the hope of its return.
