Académie de France à Rome - Villa Medici

The "Teatro delle Esposizioni" is a multidisciplinary artistic event that is now in its second year. It has been created to show the work of the 19 participants – artists, designers, composers, writers, filmmakers and art historians – in residence at Villa Medici, the French Academy in Rome. The volume collects images, suggestions and cultural references that have shaped the phases completed at the Roman venue by the participants and the results of the paths they have followed. It thus uses the images of the exhibitions, performances, concerts and sound installations, and film projections that have been produced and were enjoyed by the public over the course of four evenings. The rich series of illustrations is accompanied by texts written by the participants – Dove Allouche, Philippe Artières, Joana Barreto, Til Berg (Gilbert Nouno), Romain Bernini, Carole Blumenfeld, Delphine Coindet, Chloé Delaume, Caroline Deruas, Geoffroy Drouin, Ramy Fischler, Céline Frigau, Marcella Lista, Ridha Moumni, Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber and Rémy Yadan – along with interviews and the reflections of other artists and critics involved in the projects. The prefaces are by Éric de Chassey, Director of the French Academy, and event curator Marcello Smarrelli.
