Torna üzerine notlar

A novella, a sound composition, and a photo series created during the 2024 Torna residency program in Şile, a small town on the Black Sea coast in the province of Istanbul.

notes on torna follows an unnamed sound engineer who is commissioned by a woodturner to soundproof his workshop and investigate inexplicable spectral noises in the region.

Over the course of a two-week stay in Şile, the narrative moves between work documentation, essay, and memoir. Acoustic memories from Tirana, Berlin, London, and other places intertwine with reflections on tinnitus, acoustic hallucinations, the mythology of the Black Sea, noise pollution, fear of flying, and Havana syndrome.
