Thinking Photography, Using Photography

A new collection of critical essays examining where contemporary photography is heading and its role in visual culture today.
Today photography is a dominating visual culture and is a powerful force in our society. The photographic medium is undergoing a incredibly fast technological development and at the same time we have new, expansive social systems of communication at our disposal. In light of these technological developments, the anthology “Thinking Photography, Photography Using” presents new theories of the photographic medium and analyzes how we use and consume photography in the 2000s. “Thinking Photography, Using Photography” offers an insightful and wide range of voices in the latest research on photography.
The anthology is the result of a two-year kaleidoscopic survey of photography in Sweden and Europe, led by the Center for Photography in collaboration with JMK - Department of Journalism, Media and Communication at Stockholm University and Image Museum in Umeå.
