Product Description

Ron Morelli returns to Hospital Productions with a 2nd album of stare-down noise and gut-scraped techno fundamentals; a surreal and febrile series of grotesques wrenched from Pro-One metal synths, scrap percussion and a burned-out mind to emulate and celebrate the sensation of dry sweat, post-club vertigo and the numbing gratification of sensorial excess.

The nine tracks of 'A Gathering Together' lean in and spell out grim stories of darkrooms and amplified environments with a compelling, time-served authenticity, describing sensations of brokenness and inter-club anxiety in stereo-strafing drones and collapsing, sisyphean rhythms that never quite resolve their excited state of melancholy.

Herein, Morelli has tempered the devil-may-care throwdowns of 'Spit' (2013) and 'Periscope Blues' (2014) with a more patient, restrained approach to composition, exerting greater control over his raw materials, rather than the other way around, whilst also opening up their structures to better consolidate the overload of influences from spaces, places and peoples.

Like the best club crowd they are non-uniform yet (in)coherent, relishing the nuance of difference and mutation within a closed space, which is perhaps as a result of his relocation from NYC to the 10th Arrondissement, Paris, coupled with the experience of countless international DJ sets and filtered via the added perspective of production and mixdown from Parisian peer, Krikor Kouchian.

Set to be followed by the 'European Nightclubbing' 12" in early 2016, this is without a doubt Morelli's definitive and most impressive opus.
