Nicosia This Week. An unofficial guide to the biennial that never was began as the innocent creative endeavour of seven students at the Werkplaats Typografie. Thick with practical tips, some superfluous information, a bit of in-depth analysis and a little pretentious experimentation, it was intended to be an alternative guide to the city of Nicosia for the students and visitors of the much anticipated Manifesta 6 school. Following the abrupt cancellation of Manifesta 6 Nicosia This Week has now become one of the only existing historical documents of a potentially great event that never happened and a guide book to a city that will in all likelihood remain forever biennial-less.
The book contains contributions by the three curators of the Manifesta 6: Mai Abu ElDahab, Anton Vidokle and Florian Waldvogel as well as Jan Verwoert, Paul Elliman, Yiannis Papadaki, Louise Tu' and the participants of the Werkplaats Typografie.
