Product Description
“Before Things Change” is a small insight into Seth Fluker’s undesirable occupation at Whole Foods Market Soho. Each image slowly evolved and quickly disappeared within his workspace while washing grimy kitchen utensils and haphazardly disposing customer waste. Through the sequencing of this edition, Seth aimed to represent the ever-changing emotions he felt during each shift.
From Britt Rawlinson's introduction to the book:
“In the winter of 2009 Seth Fluker became a kitchen porter at Whole Foods Market Soho. After a few months of intense labor and staringinto the abyss of a sink, Seth was slowly becoming mesmerized by the vibrant colors and abstract formations he was creating whie washing grimy kitchen utensils and disposing customer waste.
The smell of spring was in the air and Seth was now packing his Contax T3 camera in his back pocket during every shift. Once the first rolls were developed, Seth was granted permission to document the contents of his workspace as long as it didn’t interfere with his productivity. Now working twice as hard and his colleagues thinking he was completely deranged, Seth would end up shooting more than one thousand photographs in the next four months.”
