Product Description

Jason McLean (1971, London, Ontario) and Mark DeLong (1978, New Brunswick) are two of the youngest and most interesting artists living and working in Vancouver at present. For the first time Nieves brings together their unique styles of drawings and collage in Melanie Sheepwash, a booklet inspired by modern dads “getting busy in their own time”, and produced for the occasion of the homonymous exhibition at the Charles H Scott Gallery in Vancouver.

Mark DeLong is a self-taught artist working in sculpture, video, and painting. This is his second appearance on the Nieves catalogue, after Zine I Don’t Love You Gene, I Love Eugene. He held a solo exhibition at Attache Gallery in Vancouver; group exhibitions includ Tiny Vices at Spencer Brownstone Gallery in New York, Bjornson Kajiwara Gallery in Vancouver, and Thaw the Yeti at Brooklyn Fire Proof in New York.

Jason McLean's diverse practice includes drawing, sculpture, installation, sound performance and mail art. Much of his work contains collaborative elements. He was chosen by MacLean's magazine as one of the top ten visual artists to watch for in Canada. As an illustrator he has worked with Adbusters and Bananafish Magazine.
