Product Description
The book stems from the project Archiving, gathering, exhibiting, recounting, remembering,
loving, desiring, ordering, mapping. A performance cycle, which analysed collecting as a
cultural practice through the work of artists that make use of the archive and of the collection
in their practice. Four performances by artists Patrizio Di Massimo, Ryan Gander, Pierre
Leguillon, Tris Vonna-Michell, were commissioned by Nomas Foundation and hosted by the
Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma.
The publication is organised as an abécédaire ordered around the nine words enclosed in the
title. The four artists developed a contribution reflecting on a chosen word, thus addressing in
a different media the issues that were central in their work for the performance cycle. In addition
to this, the book also includes three essays selected among those which have been crucial in
structuring the understanding of the archive/the collection vis a vis Nomas Founation’s programme.
Curated by Cecilia Canziani and Ilaria Gianni
