Broken Away from Common Standpoints

For “Broken Away from Common Standpoints”, Alicja Kwade has transformed the space of the Milanese non-profit venue Peep-Hole into a fairy-tale landscape. Dozens of ballerina statuettes, collected by the artist over the years, fill the entire exhibition space. Though they come from different eras and places, the figurines feature similar poses and gazes. The artist has altered the face of each statuette, repainting the eyes so that they are all looking upward.
