Freizeit

Freizeit presents a photographic series in which Laurence Bonvin focuses on human activities taking place around monuments in former east Berlin. It deals with the way in which monuments tend to disappear and loose their memorial functions to become urban furniture and locations, used and appropriated by citizens. Freizeit is published on the occasion of Laurence Bonvin’s 6 months residency at Atelier Schönhauser in Berlin in 2007, annually awarded to an artist by Fonds cantonal d’art contemporain (FCAC) République et Canton de Genève. The carefully designed publication showcases 16 separate large color reproductions and an insert with original texts by Yves Rosset, Swiss author llving in Berlin and Gabriel Truan, author and artist living in Spain.
