Aesthetics and Politics of Logistics

The architecture of logistics services is a profoundly political phenomenon that measures, maps and regulates territory through the projection of its power relations into topography. It creates spatial networks constituted through the circulation of capital, calibrated to meet security and risk management requirements. Such a direct translation of risk factors and economic values into a spatial configuration inevitably produces a territory that is alien to both natural topography and labour in its forms. The book is an enquiry into the nature of paradigm transformation in logistics. Its aim is to create a multidisciplinary platform for an exchange of ideas between artists, architects, historians, philosophers, engineers and planners. We believe that only by cultivating a common imagination will we be able to know, oppose and fight from within the logistics system that shapes our territories, our cities and our lives.
