Product Description

Between March and June 2019, Carlo Gabriele Tribbioli invited a number of artists to join him in the city of Sulaymaniyah (Slemani, in Kurdish language), in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, to develop their own projects. The result was a programme of artist residencies and long-distance collaborations, which led to a necessary confrontation with the territory. Slemani is a secluded and hard-to-reach place, which the artists have had the opportunity to experience in the dimension of everyday life, which flows despite the critical issues that characterise it. The book A Season in Slemani collects the results of this programme and presents a selection of photographic and documentary materials that narrate and contextualise the processes. A text by Ilaria Gianni (independent curator and writer) and a chronology edited by Camilla Insom (researcher in Iranistics, La Sapienza University, Rome) complete the book.
