Product Description

In her catalog »Sometimes I Whisper In The Wind Until I Hear You – Chinese Kites, Japanese Ghosts and Other Flying Devices,« Ingrid Hora presents the results of her artistic experiments with rituals that connect people to the sky, in which she tells stories of loneliness, the need to hide and the desire to reach out. Sometimes her objects are set into motion by the forces of nature – when a fragile paper ball waits for the wind to lift it up. Other times it is a combination, such as when a group of people both screaming and running with a cone-shaped kite, sends collective hope into the air. The artist has produced elegant and functional objects, that are not necessarily airborne, but that intensify dreams of flying. Texts by the South African writer Henrietta Rose-Innes and architect and writer Inigo Minns are integrated in the catalog.

Ingrid Hora, born 1976, Solitude fellow 2007, works as am artist in London. She studied architecture in Vienna and London and received her Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art. Since 2001 she has taught at the Summer School of the Architects Association in London, at the Technical University in Vienna, and at the London Metropolitan University. Among others, her works were shown in the Austrian Pavilion of the Architecture Biennale in Venice (2004) and in a solo exhibition at the M&R Gallery in London (2006).
