Psychedelia in the Visual Culture of the Beat Age 1962-1972

The catalogue to the exhibition Psychedelia in the Visual Culture of the Beat Age, 1962 – 72 represents the first attempt at studying and interpreting Czechoslovak rock posters from that era in the same way that the earlier catalogue The Pope Smoke Dope looked at psychedelic posters from San Francisco, record covers, books, magazines, and rock ‘n’ roll films.
The catalogue contains 137 color illustrations, accompanied by a compendious text in Czech and English in which Zdenek Primus looks at Czechoslovak rock posters within the context of art and music history. The catalogue comes wrapped in a large-scale double-sided poster featuring 85 color illustrations and Eric King’s bilingual text Drugs and Psychedelic Poster Art.
