Poetics of Architecture is an object created by the architect Shota Bostanashvili (1948-2013). It is also the name of a studio-workshop, where he had taught the original ways of architectural thinking for 25 years. The book, Shota Bostanashvili. Poetics of Architecture presents his personality and philosophy. The book includes individual texts of diverse genres: a scientific article (by professor Lino Bianco), a short survey of poetics, a manifesto of Shota Bostanashvili’s poetics, biographical notes and an interview with Davit Bostanashvili. The focus of the book is the bread factory in Dighomi, projected and constructed by the architect, which is now out of function.

Shota Bostanashvili was born in 1948 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1972 he graduated from the Institute of Architecture at the Georgian technical University, during 1966-1970 was employed as an architect - technician at Georgian State Institute of Design. During 1970-1990 he worked as architect and later as head of design department at design office of Institute of Architecture at the Georgian Technical University. Since 1978 is engaged in academic career at Georgian technical University. During 40 years of architectural practice Bostanashvili authored a vast number of design projects and built work, many of which have won local and international awards. Among notable projects are: Cube of memory in Senaki (1975), Kutaisi memorial to work (1976), memorial for lost lives in WW2 near village of Mukhrani (1975), bread factory in Tbilisi (1984), private residence in Tbilisi (1988) and Palace of poetry in Tbilisi (1999-2002).
