Product Description
OBJECTS - Journal for Applied Arts is a rather sui generis magazine about trends and new approaches to crafts including illustration, graphic design, textile art, ceramics, furniture, glass or book art.
Each issue offers gorgeous photo spreads, reviews and most interestingly critical essays written by both practioners and academics, artists and experts in the various fields. These art & craft disciplines have a face now and the magazine gives them a voice.
OBJECTS - Journal of Applied Arts should interest everyone curious about the 'Is it art or craft?', 'Art or design?' debates. As its title suggests, the magazine is interested in the individual artistic craftwork, the object. It discusses the importance of material and craft, taking into consideration the genres of art and design as well as their social relevance.
OBJECTS was launched by Berlin curators Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss from Illustrative and is published in both English and German.
The fourth issue "CRAFTPOETRY" has it all: Nick Clements broaches the issue of Re-Enactement, the aftermath of historical occurrences and their artistic exploitation, Julie Kogler analyses the rise of the surreal-pop-artists of the last decade while Basar Önal speaks about designing time. Last but not least Julian Waite explains the meaning of his ghost story as well as the terminus performance illustration. With artist portraits of Olaf Hajek, Hellen Jo, Antti Uotila, Luis Dourado.
