Hu Fang's writing is a juxtaposition of fiction and commentary about a variety of topics relevant to contemporary living, including authoritarian politics, office culture, market economy and personal experiences. These topics commingle in his series of texts with great lucidity and wit. His ambition seems to be embedded within the risky act of constant writing, such that he creates little seeds of texts that can be weaved into an encyclopaedia on contemporary society... Hu Fang (Chinese: 胡昉; 1970–) is a fiction writer, art critic and curator. He lives and works in Guangzhou and Beijing. He is the co-founder and artistic director of Vitamin Creative Space in Guangzhou and the Pavilion in Beijing. He has been involved in various international projects including documenta 12 magazines as coordinating editor and Yokohama Triennale 2008 as co-curator.
