Karton Tandem 2: Void

Karton Tandem is a magazine dedicated to accidental encounters, free associations and experimentation in photography and literary writing. Karton Tandem explores the concept of reality in multiple dialogic formulas between a photographer and an author, each issue imagining possible perspectives of looking at and describing the present. Karton Tandem is dedicated to Romanian contemporary photography.

Mihai Plătică is active in the field of photography and sculptural objects. He graduated with a degree in photography from the University of Arts and Design, Cluj, having previously trained as a professional athlete (long jump). His back- ground in sport has helped him develop a well-structured, highly analytical method, based on science and centred on researching the concept of materiality. Plătică explores the relationship between object, image and context, while taking an interest in the way the universal laws of physics gov- ern our world. His exhibitions are a gateway to immersive experiences in which photography becomes an instrument designed for close observation and which enables a reinterpretation of what may be called reality.

George Cornilă is the author of several novels, short story collections, and children’s books, for which he has received several national and international awards. His work has been included in over twenty anthologies published in Romania and the United Kingdom. His most recent novel, Silex, was awarded the Observator Cultural Prize and the Radio Romania Cultural Prose Prize. Since 2024, he has been an editor for the cultural magazine Matca, where he writes a column on literary geographies. He is passionate about travel, drawing, biology, history, and mythology. He dreams of a house on the beach, with a huge room just for a library and a slightly smaller one dedicated to cats.
