Co-published by Mack Books and LE BAL, La Bête, a modern tale by Yasmina Benabderrahmane is the first book published by the young French artist. This book, composed solely of photograms from his film work, in black and white and in color, plunges the reader into the heart of the project carried out in Morocco between 2012 and 2019. Between metaphor and raw fragments, the different protagonists arise over the pages. of this visual tale: the Uncle, the Grandmother and the Beast. From these spaces and these familiar bodies, where the thwarted history of contemporary Morocco is played out, Yasmina Benabderrahmane seeks to approach detail and materials, hands that shape and reproduce, over the ages, the same gestures.

Texts by Adrien Genoudet accompany the images, adding an additional voice to this polyphonic tale. An interview with the artist, conducted by Adrien Genoudet, completes the book.
