Since the 1990s, Bob Gramsma has moved within the field of spatial-sculptural practice, which is formulated as multilayered interventions and pointed placements of precisely defined spatialisms. IN provides a representative survey of his work. Moreover, as a logical consequence of Gramsma’s artistic works, the book is conceived as a spatial body. Illustration sequences are carefully interrelated in associative, thematic groups between which text contributions are placed; they introduce Gramsma’s work or focus on individual works or thematic aspects. Along with texts that have been written specifically for this book, older essays published at various times have also been made available again. At the same time, they give insight into the reception of Bob Gramsma’s work.

As a whole, the publication depicts images of movement and of temporary immobilization and underscores the claim not to publish normative specifications or completed receptions; much more, it reveals the motor of Gramsma’s artistic practice, the consistent probing of spatiality as a conceptual, physical-material, and contextual category.
