Product Description
Hidden resonances of an underground cistern are triggered by voices and didgeridoos. The performers attune to the empty reservoir and the moon cycles, transforming cosmic energy into acoustic energy. Deep and prolonged sound vibrations circulate through the listener's inner and outer space with a sense of acoustic vastness.
"The music for ‘I.A. Water Reservoir’ started when we discovered the acoustics of Stuttgart’s oldest cistern. At that time, we attended sessions by local musicians who gathered on top of the hill where we were living and played music under the rays of each full moon. We liked their sounds and attitude, and invited them to collaborate in our recording session in the cistern. This was on the new moon of October 2019."

'I.A. Water Reservoir' is the fourth album by the duo 'Invisible Architecture' (Sajjra Xhrs Galarreta and Janneke van der Putten – since 2013). Music composed live, edited and mixed by Galarreta. Acoustic voices by Norbert Kerwin and van der Putten. Didgeridoos by Jörg Appinger, Manfred Blum and Kerwin. Performed and recorded in the empty Kanonenweg Drinking Water Reservoir in Stuttgart, Germany, on the new moon of 28.10.2019. All tracks are one-take live recordings without electronic effects and with a minimum of overdubs. The live composition is based on a special positioning of microphones and performers, and on specific sound gestures chosen in relation to the resonant space. Artwork design by Riccardo Santalucia. Typography and layout by Margarita Milova. Text editing by Arden Rzewnicki. Supported by Akademie Schloss Solitude and Music Support Rotterdam. Thanks to Netze BW Wasser GmbH. Produced by Idraola, The Netherlands. Published by Aloardi (ALO 073) and Idraola (IDRA 04), 2025.
The album starts on the new moon (dark) side of the vinyl and continues on the full moon (bright) side. Play at 33 1/3 rpm. To fit the vinyl format, the composition was divided into two parts. The full continuous version is digitally available with the download code.
