"And then there were two..."

As soon as the stories began to come together, it became clear to me that I wanted the book to be illustrated. In the past, books for adults were often accompanied by illustrations, but in recent times these have been almost exclusively reserved for children’s books.

I believe adults deserve quality illustrations too — even if it’s not the most practical choice in today’s publishing world.

Zofia immediately came to mind: her drawings would capture the mood, grasp the deeper layers, and bring out the essence of my stories. I couldn’t really imagine anyone else doing it, which is why I hesitated for a long time before asking her. To my amazement and delight, Zofia agreed right away.
Her illustrations don’t merely visualise the text — they take the stories a step further, casting them in a new light or revealing a different perspective altogether.
