Product Description

It is a late afternoon in the summer of 1969. We are on the outskirts of Glasgow and Gabriele Basilico picks up a Nikon F, shooting a single roll of film. He is in a state of grace, but no one can yet know that that one roll of film constitutes Basilico's birthplace as a photographer. He was struck by Scottish kids, terrains vagues, 19th century industrial archaeology. At the time, he was only an architecture student interested in the post-war new towns in England and the social photography of Bill Brandt, but he had not yet manifested a vocation for photography. This volume, after Iran 1970 and Morocco 1971, completes the "Basilico before Basilico" trilogy and is accompanied by texts by Umberto Fiori, Pippo Ciorra and the testimony of Giovanna Calvenzi.
