Zines from Gaza is a publishing initiative by Coastal Lines Press, a collective of writers living under siege and genocide in Gaza.
Through donation-based access and grassroots distribution, their words are
traveling the world—funding essential aid and amplifying Palestinian voices.
Taqwa Ahmed Al-Wawi is a Palestinian writer and poet from Gaza, and a nineteen-year-old English Literature student at the Islamic University of Gaza.
Through her writing, she strives to amplify Gaza’s voice and shed light on stories too often left untold. In addition to contributing to We Are Not Numbers, her work has appeared in leading outlets such as The Electronic Intifada, Mondoweiss, The Markaz Review, Al Jazeera English, The Palestine Chronicle, and The Massachusetts Review to name a few. Taqwa’s poetry has also been published by Baladi Magazineand Opol.
“Every word in this zine carries our hearts, our grief, and our defiance. We are human, just like you, with dreams that stretch beyond borders. Remember us, feel with us, and know that even in the face of genocide, we endure—and our voices will not be silenced. Thank you!”
—Taqwa Ahmed Al-Wawi
Coastal Lines Press is a collective of writers in Gaza turning words into life-saving support for their families. Through the Zines from Gaza initiative, they create and distribute small booklets of poetry, essays, and testimonies that carry stories of survival, resistance, and hope. Each zine is available worldwide thanks to volunteers and solidarity networks. 100% of profits go directly to the authors, offering critical aid during the ongoing siege and genocide in Gaza. Our name honors the coastline of Gaza and the lines of language that connect writers with readers around the world.
