Product Description

Peter Broderick and Yellow Swan Gabriel Saloman on this limited LP outing for new label Beacon Sound. Hand-numbered edition of 500. Includes downbload code** At the behest of Portland, Oregon's Beacon Sound, Gabriel Saloman and Peter Broderick share their first plate together. Commissioned by the shop/label back in Fall 2013 as a first time-collaboration, it actually manifests two respective solo suites, each produced and arranged individually, yet initially recorded in the same Type Foundry studios. Peter Broderick, he ov Efterklang, Bella Union, Erased Tapes, contributes a four song side spread out from the ghostly strings of 'Lament', thru the widescreen arrangement of rustic rustle, strolling dub-pop and disemebodied chorales in 'Man Of The Streets', to the fragile folk iteration of 'Folks Like Me', and the Popol Vuh-like mourning of 'Lament For Philip Seymour Hoffman'. By contrast, Saloman's flip is far less prissy, more spacious, and ultimately effective. 'Bigger Time' spans the whole B-side, starting up with somnolent guitars multi-tracked to a slow, world-weary dialogue accentuated with lingering traces of echoed phrases, before segueing into widescreen atmospheres to a precipitous, symphonic finale.
