Product Description

FREAK SHOW: STRATEGIES FOR (DIS)ENGAGEMENT IN DESIGN was an exhibition curated by Sophie Lovell, on view from 13 November 2010–29 January 2011 at Helmrinderknecht Contemporary Design Gallery in Berlin, with works by: Auger-Loizeau, Pieke Bergmans, Dunne & Raby, El Ultimo Grito, Martí Guixé, Stuart Haygarth, Kueng Caputo, Mathieu Lehanneur, Studio Makkink & Bey, and Jerszy Seymour.

“Freak/Show – Strategies for (Dis)engagement in Design” is an exhibition on design that goes beyond standards and conventions, contrasting the work of ten unconventional designers. This exhibition catalogue presents itself as an equally unconventional companion to the exhibition: each of the ten designers is portrayed on an individual sheet made from a different type of paper. In combination, these individually designed sheets create a homogeneous whole, turning the printed catalogue into the 11th exhibit of the exhibition.

This limited edition catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition in a run of 300, each stamped and numbered.
