Product Description

"Dixit Algorizmi. The Garden of Knowledge is an investigation into the origin of the myth and narrative of modern technologies within contemporary artistic practices, exploring their forgotten roots and their resonances with distant places, times and cultures. This volume offers a reflection on the seminal work of Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī, a scientist and scholar born and raised in the city of Khiva (now Uzbekistan). al-Khwārizmīʼs treatise Algoritmi de numero Indorum, written around 825, is responsible for the introduction of the Arabic numeration system into Europe, and it was the Latin transliteration of the name al-Khwārizmī into Algorizmi that gave us the word ʻalgorithmʼ. Dixit Algorizmi. The Garden of Knowledge generates divergent interpretations of technology as a medium, confirming the need to explore the depth and complexity of its history. Dixit Algorizmi is a series of exhibitions, conversations and workshops born in 2019, was presented in 2021 at CCA Tashkent and in 2022 at the Pavilion of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the International Art Exhibition"
