The publication Dinge und Dialoge explores the relationship between the material character of things and the physical existence of the observer. The individual contributions in the publication as well as in the exhibition with the same title, that was realized at Scriptings Berlin from December 2015 until January 2016, raise questions about the particular, unique standpoint from which we can speak and perceive. The artists and writers examine the possibilities of seeing differences in objects, recognizing an object as something distinct and our capacity of seeing and comprehending. The publication traces the proposition that where everyday objects and art objects concur, due to their similarities and differences, their status becomes productive.
In her contribution titled THE SOCIALITIES OF THINGS Jorella Andrews talks about Maurice Merleau-Ponty and his 1969 essay "Eye and Mind." Oona Lochner writes a letter to Daniel Heinrich. Walking through Berlin she recollects images from his photographs. In Kathi Hofer's digital contribution - a documentation of a private Wild West reenactment in the Mackey Apartement LA - she continues her work about barter and customs. Ulrike Köppinger contributes a series of objects made in 2015/16 from found stones and branches, which are finely interwoven. Jenni Tischer reflects on digital patterns in her drawings Too Much Information and the object Recognition. Barbara Kapusta's digital contribution is the documentation of her performance A Poem for 5 Small Cone-shaped Objects, which took place on December 5, 2016 at Scriptings Berlin. Katrin Mayer grants insight into reference material for her work Forbidden Symmetries. Three pictures show three paintings by Rocco Pagel. Ulrike Müller shares four vector illustrations of drawings for enamel paintings from a bigger nascent work with us.
With contributions from Daniel Heinrich, Kathi Hofer, Barbara Kapusta, Ulrike Köppinger, Katrin Mayer, Ulrike Müller, Rocco Pagel, Jenni Tischer and texts by Jorella Andrews and Oona Lochner.
