Die Zeitung der Roten Fabrik #268 - “EPIC FAIL” / “WE ARE ANONYMOUS”

A cult issue of Fabrikzeitung, the publication of Zürich’s iconic cultural center Rote Fabrik.
Released at the height of the Wikileaks and Anonymous phenomenon, this issue titled “EPIC FAIL” explores the shifting power structures of the digital age — between online collectivism, chaos, and political resistance.

The design adopts the militant and viral visual language of Anonymous: monumental typography, slogans (“WE ARE ANONYMOUS / WE ARE LEGION / KNOWLEDGE IS FREE / EXPECT US”), and the reappropriation of Hobbes’ Leviathan as a symbol of networked power.
It also features early visual experiments with digital hieroglyphs — a mash-up of body parts, emojis, and pop objects.
