Charley #04: Checkpoint Charley

Charley 04 (Checkpoint Charley) is born out of the reasearch conducted by the curators of the 4th Berlin biennal for contemporary art (2006) and brought together images of works produced by more than 700 artists.

Charley is a voracious creature, fixated on assimilation and consumption. Charley digests everything in site without discrimination or judgment: it's a publication that courts confusion and flirts with both celebrity and failure.
This 4th issue, Checkpoint Charley, was born out of the research conducted by the curators of the 4th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art. This publication brings together images produced by more than 700 artists encountered in studios, found in catalogues, and recommended by friends and colleagues.
All of the artists are represented without their consent.

Charley ist eine gefräßige Kreatur, fixiert auf Einverleibung und Verzehr. Charley verdaut alles vor Ort ohne unterschied und Vorurteil: es ist eine Veröffentlichung, die die Verwirrung umwirbt und mit dem Ruhm als auch dem Scheitern flirtet.
Die neue Ausgabe Checkpoint Charley ist aus einer Recherche heraus entstanden, die die Kuratorinnen der 4. Berlin Biennale für zeitgenössische Kunst initiiert haben. Diese Publikation ist eine Zusammenstellung von Bildern, produziert von mehr als 700 Künstlerinnen, die in Ateliers besucht, in Katalogen gefunden und von Freundinnen und Kolleginnen empfohlen worden sind.

Alle Künstlerinnen werden ohne ihre Einwilligung vorgestellt.
