C_G (cassette)

For our first physical release we are proud to present an album length collaboration between Eduardo Ribuyo, co-founder of the label Third Type Tapes from Belgium, known mostly for his work as C_C and our own co-founder and driving percussive force, Ilia Gorovitz, appearing here, consequently, as ‘G’.

All takes were self-engineered and recorded by the players in one first take in our Berlin basement hideout. Much effort was made to find a setup of just the right amount of wiring and cross-feedbacks of Eduardo’s and Ilia’s respective tools and toys, before both dived into a whirlpool of sounds, beats, bleeps and buzzes. Selected and subtly sculptured by Ilia Gorovitz, the multi-tracks were passed on to one of the most prolific musicians in Israel Igor Krutagolov, known for being the man behind the acts such as KIP and Igor Krutogolov's Toy Orchestra for the final mix, and subsequent mastering.

The result can now be heard on six titles with six very different moods and approaches but grounded by one solid setup, the mutual understanding to avoid the main roads, and the players unlimited curiosity for new ways of joyful noisemaking.

This tape is the latest in a series of one-on-one encounters of drummer Ilia Gorovitz, which includes his album with Shoham Manela as well as the label’s foundational band Stumpf. This album is a challenging and satisfyingly sick statement in it’s own right, full of craft, spontaneity, playful intuition, raw power and personality.
