Product Description

“Brandy and the Psychedelic Mold” is a 112 pages comic, drawn in black pens on A4 paper.

The book follows a little dog’s psychedelic trip around the streets of Tel-Aviv’s central market, in parallel to the journey of a woman who’s anxiously searching for the tripping dog. At the same time, the woman who lives with Brandy gradually concludes she has to go outside and look for her lost dog. She is walking the same streets Brandy is passing while her mind is looping with anxious thoughts. She sees Brandy’s black shape in every shadow, consoling herself with the thought that “he always comes back”.

The drawing style varies throughout the book and features homages to Kazimir Malevich, Umberto Boccioni, Marcel Duchamp, Alfred Hitchcock & Robert Boyle, Harvey Kurtzman, traditional Jewish Ketubahs, 19th century sci-fi drawings, Louis Wain, Byzantine art and more. I’ve experimented and learned a lot about comics-making while working on this story and these references helped me understand how to depict movement, create time-based scenes, set an atmosphere and build compositions.

The book is in Hebrew, comes with an attached English translation.
