Frames

An artists' book of eight poems and eight collages based on landscape photographs. The poems were written in Melbourne and Las Vegas between July and November 2013, and the book completed in the United States before the author moved to Berlin. The author comments: "'Frames' is a dialogue between language and the image. The concept of 'collage' here applies to both language and image, and how poetry functions as a reassembling of fragments. Landscapes are reimagined as our shifting surroundings fracture our thought, speech, and vision. There is no intention to provoke or manipulate a particular emotion or thought. There is only an attempt to create a space where the reader's mind can wander freely, and hopefully into new territory. We raise words and mountains into meaning; we present the most vacant of ruins as artistry."
