Product Description
Exhibition catalogue of the Arte povera exhibition by the Pinault Collection, conceived by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev.
At the intersection of heritage and influence, the exhibition showcases more than 250 artworks — historical, contemporary and inspired — by this major Italian artistic movement of the 1960s. Arte povera highlights both its Italian roots and its international influence through the work of thirteen main artists of the movement: Giovanni Anselmo, Alighiero Boetti, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Luciano Fabro, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Giulio Paolini, Pino Pascali, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Emilio Prini, and Gilberto Zorio.
The catalogue follows the exhibition path and begins with a section specifically conceived for the occasion by five artists (Giulio Paolini, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Gilberto Zorio, Pier Paolo Calzolari, and Giuseppe Penone). An introduction text by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, the exhibition curator, and extended essays by Fabio Cafagna, Gabriele Guercio, Marcella Beccaria, Nicolas-Xavier Ferrand, Riccardo Passoni, and Silvia Maria Sara Cammarata, accompany a series of photographs showing the peak of the movement through exceptional images of the artists, their studios, and exhibitions.
The publication presents all twenty-four display cases of the Passage, welcoming for the occasion works from Arte Povera pioneers, and in dedicated chapters, the thirteen artists displayed in the Rotonde. It concludes with a presentation of the work of thirteen artists inspired and influenced by Arte Povera.
