After Photography & Beyond is thought of as a reflection of the artist’s approach, which often resorts to appropriation or misappropriation to explore, not without humor, through a protean and polysemic work, the various fields of photography: objects, uses, techniques, history and theoretical foundations. Le Minh then chose as starting point the legendary Time-Life Encyclopedia for Photography – a collection of seventeen books published in the 1970s, illustrated by the great photographers of history, covering all the technical, historical or artistic and widely circulated throughout the world. The series of images are punctuated by texts by Julie Jones (historian of photography) which highlights different strategies of appropriation in a historical perspective, while Joan Fontcuberta (artist and author of many theoretical writings on photography) is interested in the question of the materiality of the image in the era of “post-photography”. As for Florian Ebner (curator for photography at the Center Pompidou), he contributes to the book through an interview with the artist. Finally, very brief notes written by Véronique Souben (director of Frac Normandie Rouen) based on the artist's writings provide a synthetic and “scientific” light on each work in the book.
