According to Mirta D’Argenzio, curator of the show “Leon D’Oro” at Fondazione Morra Greco in Naples, the collaboration between Douglas Gordon and Jonathan Monk grew out of the two artists’ shared interests: food, drinking, and performance. The artists also worked together on this publication, which turns the traditional catalogue structure on its head, transforming it into a sort of “menu” of images and texts that document the entire experience before and after the exhibition: from the email correspondence starting in 2008, to the improvised performances in Naples.
