CAR MAUSOLEUM — 2009

A mausoleum for automobiles will be constructed. This mausoleum comprisesof an increasable number of stackable niches. These niches, constructed of reinforced concrete, have an open front and backside. each niche contains one automobile. as this is a cemetery, provision must be made for constant expansion. In the first stage a capacity for 3000 cars is foreseen, extending in due course to become the size of a suburb. A natural environment is deemed to be the best location in which to erect this mausoleum : a broad pasture, a voluminous clearing within a forest of trees, a vast field alongside a river or stream. Human access to the constructed area is of secondary importance. The precise location will be subjected to thorough ground testing, as appropriate to ensure the accommodation of such a massive structure. Practical considerations, in combination with the purchase price of the parcel of land, will determine the location. The various alternatives will at first be limited to European territory but global expansion is expected. all automobiles are eligible to inhabit the mausoleum. There will be no difference made between old and new. the automobiles will be collected by way of purchase and donation. once an automobile is placed into a niche, this is its final destination. due to the continual expansion of the built structure as well of the automobile collection, the decision can be taken to regroup the automobiles, allowing for ever-changing configurations.
