Product Description

Campo di Marte was conceived in March 2020, a period during which Nathalie Du Pasquier did not paint. By cutting out photos of paintings made between the 1980s and 2020, the French artist installs them in a sequence as if they were typefaces, taking into account only their formal qualities and the different reading possibilities offered by the juxtapositions. The result is an enchanting game of nonsense, an everyday surrealism in which the images form sentences of sorts, intertwining with real words plucked from the world of books: titles, poems, simple calculations - occasions when the artist lacked words. Campo di Marte will also be called an exhibition, curated by Luca Lo Pinto, scheduled at the MACRO in Rome for the end of 2020. As Du Pasquier said: 'The book was supposed to come out on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition. It wonʼt be, but it doesnʼt matter, they are still two different things. This paperback is not a catalogue at all and you can look at it even on the underground."
