Playful Subversion", which the Swiss artist Beni Bischof conceived on the occasion of his first Austrian performance at the FOTOHOF Salzburg, delivers what its title promises: it is a handy, highly entertaining vade mecum for which the great icons of the culture industry were sausaged. The cosmos of images – a contrasting panorama of our postmodern media culture – creates a subversive pull that is difficult to escape. The juxtaposition of the black and white reproductions not only deconstructs and profanes many heroes, but also creates diverse association spaces for one's own pleasurable appropriation.
