Product Description

This publication is an homage and a follow-up of James F. O’Brien’s “design by accident” published in 1969. Like its predecessor, this publication presents various techniques based on chance and accident, in order to produce outstanding visuals without the help of the human hand. It proposes an update of the original publication, 45 years later, based upon the graphic production line of the offset printing technique as a whole. The used tools and techniques range from computer generated images to direct interventions on the offset plate. After many years of alternative offset experimentations, here are some recipes of this research process. All images have been produced by second year graphic design students during a one week workshop held by Angelo Benedetto and Guy Meldem (Maximage) ECAL Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne, 2014
