French artist Orlan, whose medium is her own body that she alters with plastic surgery, is Walter Van Beirendonck's muse for the Winter '98 season.
Her current appearance - including two eyecatching facial implants - is the departure point for a new look at make-up and beauty. believe is published to accompany the exhibition Kiss the Future!
It follows W.& L. I.'s Winter '98 collection, taking in Van Beirendonck's own sketch-books, fashion-critic Suzy Menkes' reviews of the show, Marc Newson's shop-in-shop concept and interviews by journalists Pascale Renaux and Max Borka. Central focus is a fascinating fashion shoot by Juergen Teller.
This bizarre and colourful spectacle is staged by Walter Van Beirendonck. Exhibition and book are a chance for him to present his futuristic vision of clothing and beauty to a wider public.
