"Has time stopped in a lonely and suspended Night in Rome by Antonioni? Or in a soporific hot afternoon on Sunset Boulevard in the 1950s? No, we feel a pang of nostalgia before an imminent change. It's simply the outskirts of Paris, a different, trapped nature with some beautiful stories in masterful melancholic black and white, soft and sometimes harsh lighting. Are we scavenger-hunting for a sign, trailing all the stations of the new underground line under construction? Yes, these are treasures we find when we realise we will soon lose them forever. Gianluca Tamorri is a very subtle and sensitive fine art and portrait photographer, yet in Avant Paris we hardly see anyone in the frame. He has succeeded in seizing intimate, ephemeral portraits of sleepy, neglected yet ever-transforming urban details we will never see again. Change is both the end and the beginning: how lucky we are"
