The Décor Project: Hadley Howes & Maxwell Stephens

This publication documents the ongoing series of collaborative projects initiated in 2001 in which the artists worked with collectors and curators to temporary redecorate rooms in their homes. In writer Melanie O’Brian’s words “The Décor Project is the site to examine the “furnishings” of contemporary cultural production. … It incorporates the acts and objects of display to investigate the complex web of authorial power in visual art’s processes, roles, and spaces.” This project is an initiative of the Homework Curatorial Collective (Risa Horowitz, David LaRiviere, and Jonathan Middleton), in partnership with Western Front, Projectile Publishing, aceartinc.
