But what's special about this particular version is that it has been lovingly designed and produced by the contemporary artist Shimon Minamikawa. Each double page spread features a single letter from the alphabet and an illustration on the facing page, but no description. That's what so curious and captivating about the book. The artist, it seems, knows full well what each picture represents, but he's not going to tell us what it is. So no matter how many times you flip through the pages, there is always potential; something new to discover and to enjoy.
