STRUKTUR & ORGANISMUS 2011: Max Frey, Tue Greenfort, Petrit Halilaj, Rita Vitorelli

STRUCTURE & ORGANISM (2011 – 2014) is a series of exhibitions at an unusual venue, the old apricot orchard of the Kausl distillery in Mühldorf (Wachau / Austria). The orchard has long been a place onto which longings and transfigured utopias have been projected. Following Ludwig von Bertalanffy, it can be described as a »living organism«, whose structural base is a balance of changing forces. This biologist and systems theorist realised that an »open system« adapts its own inner structure to changes from the outside. In this sense it is not only that the artists respond to the orchard but also that the orchard responds to the artists.
