Product Description

Porque Eu Odeio [Why do I Hate] is an anthology by the Jamaican poet Claude McKay (1889-1948). A forerunner of the Harlem Renaissance literary movement, McKay poetically investigates how new ways of hating can lead us to new ways of living. A kind of rapper before rap ever existed, McKay's poems are about the hoods of Harlem in the early 20th century, its characters and culture, and in this sense it articulates the affections of an entire generation. This edition is bilingual English/Portuguese, and illustrated with monotypes created by the duo Pablo Blanco and Maikon Nery.
